What styles of music are available?
We have performers that specialize in virtually every genre. Our artists perform rock, pop, folk, bluegrass, classical, jazz, and we have access to an even wider artist pool through our artist network. What size of band should I get for my event?
Ivy Hill Entertainment can supply solo musicians and DJs and bands of all sizes. The size of the band is dependent on the desired atmosphere that you’re looking to create, the size of the performance space, the number of people attending your event, and available budget. For events consisting of different parts (wedding ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, and reception for example), we can put together rotating ensembles of different sizes (instrumental duo for ceremony, jazz trio for cocktail hour, vocal duo for dinner, and a full band for the reception for example) and we pride ourselves being able to put together whatever sized and configuration group that your event desires.
What should I expect to pay?
Our soloists + DJs range from $175 - $325 an hour and band packages start from $600/hour for a trio and a standard 6-piece band package runs around $1500/hour.

How far will the artist travel?
We currently serve Los Angeles and the San Francisco Bay Area in California, USA. If you are interested in hiring an artist for an event outside of these areas, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we'll be happy to do our best to accommodate your needs!
Do you provide additional audio services + microphones?
We have appropriate sound equipment that is scalable to crowds of several hundred people for our soloists, bands, and DJs. For events taking place in multiple locations, we can supply additional sound systems. We can also provide microphone equipment — wireless (handheld and clip-on lapel mics) and wired — for ceremony officants, toasts, and other programmed elements.
All of our equipment requires adequate electricity although it is possible that soloists, duos, and trios can perform for events of less than 75 people with battery-powered equipment that we have.
How long will it take to set up equipment?
A DJ or soloist needs between 60-90 minutes to set-up in one location. Our bands need at least two hours. For setting up in multiple locations with a number of ensembles, we may need two-and-a-half hours to ensure that everything is set-up and prepped in time for the event. We will always plan to be ready early rather than risk running down to the wire!
How long can the band perform?
Our soloists and bands are available from one hour through a full eight-hour day. Our artists, however, require a 10-minute break for each hour of performance (except for one-hour bookings) but we are happy to schedule our breaks during appropriate parts of the program and can also put on recorded music during the breaks to ensure that there’s no lapse of music during the evening.

It is also possible during events with different configurations for parts of the program to stagger breaks. We’ll try our best to ensure that we keep the music moving as much as possible!
Do I need to feed the band?
All of our artists require a meal and a full 30 minute break for events over 4 hours, unless otherwise agreed upon. Well fed musicians are well performing musicians!
How / When do I pay?
A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to reserve the artists for the date of performance.
The remaining 50% is due the week of the performance
Both are available for payment through PayPal and Venmo.
What are your policy for song requests (both live music and DJ)?
1 free request for every two hours of music booked
Additional Requests - $75/song
Unlimited requests but we need enough advanced notice to be able to find all of the appropriate songs
DJ NOTE - While we are happy to play entirely client-supplied playlists, our experience tells us that it helps to have the flexibility to be able to change things up and play some songs that traditionally go over well with large groups of people and different demographics. For that reason, for our Active DJ package, when you making song requests we ask for MUST PLAYS, DO NOT PLAYS, and whether you’ll allow us to make minor changes on the fly from our standard playlists to ensure that the dance floor stays busy.
What if the band cancels, gets sick, or doesn't show up?
We have spent a lot of time cultivating relationships with professional artists who are hard-working and take pride in their work. We have NEVER had an artist not show up for a gig. We would not work with an artist who acts in such a manner. In the rare instance that an artist or band member gets sick and is unable to perform, we have a wide network of willing artists that we can call who can easily step in for a gig. To date we have never had to cancel or not been able to supply the fully-promised band for an event.
What is the band dress code?
Our artists will be suitably and tidily dressed during the event. If there are any specific dress restrictions, please notify us in advance.
