Ivy hill artist development

Powered By Zoo Labs

In pursuit of our mission to create paths for musicians to develop their craft and earn a living through the support of their community, we have the great fortune of being based in Oakland, California, where there is a robust artistic community and burgeoning music industry. Nowhere is this more evident than in the halls of Zoo Labs, an innovative, non-profit artist development community, known most for its flagship residency program. Our partnership was first forged in mid-2017 but is coming to fruition with efforts we've laid out for 2018.

What is Zoo Labs?

What is the ZLMR?

What does this all mean?

Ivy Hill Entertainment's partnership with Zoo Labs allows us to accelerate the artist development that is central to our mission. Here are a number of ways in which our partnership has already benefitted our community:

  • Artist Conference Host -  Zoo Labs has twice hosted our artist conference, which is the largest meet-up of our artist base and our best opportunity to update the community to our growth, accept feedback from our base, and inspire collective action on our current initiatives.
  • Content Collection - Two days in October in their world-class studio allowed over 30 musicians from a number of our collectives a place to collect vital video and audio to promote to our patron base. You can see a lot of this work on profiles for Harvest Acoustic and The New Classics.
  • Meeting Space - In addition to our weekly all-hands meeting, Zoo Labs has provided vitally important meeting space so we can meet regularly with artists and other community partners in a location that fosters creativity and innovation.
  • Partnership Development - Zoo Labs has helped make introductions to corporate and community partners that are essential in our efforts to connect artists to systems of patronage.
  • Workshop Development - Already in 2018, we've developed a number of workshops to intermingle our respective communities, including a Zoo Labs Application Workshop, Live Sound Workshop and Turning A Musician Into A DJ. These workshops provide valuable career development as well as an even more important strengthening of artistic community ties. We are currently working on our workshop calendar for the rest of 2018, which will be hosted on our community calendar.

We can't accomplish our mission alone and we are extremely grateful for Zoo Labs' help in connecting the dots. We hope you take the opportunity to check out the service they do for the musical community. Learn more about Zoo Labs.
